BARGELLO IN THE ROUND

This pattern creates an exciting big colorful circle. It could be a wall hanging, a tablecloth, a quilt to throw over the couch or perhaps the center of a bed quilt. When you make one of these, you make 2: one for you and one for a gift. Or if you have a special friend you like to quilt with, perhaps you could choose fabrics together and each have a Bargello in the Round.
VIVACIOUS CURVY QUILTS

Never fear curves again. This class makes them fun! Come learn the technique and then make whatever size & shape you want. This is a technique class. Samples are table runners from the book by Dianne Hire.
TRIANGULATED STAR

This is a quick, do-able variable star design that is made from half-square-triangle units. The result is a 69-inch square wall hanging or quilt that can be bold and graphic or soft and subtle depending on your fabric choices. Imagine brights on a black background, classic blues or reds with white, holiday prints, novelties...the choice is yours. Emphasis is on accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing and pressing. Sewing machine required.
CREATIVE QUILT LABELING

This is a three-hour workshop which explores embellishing one's own handwriting, as well as experimenting with simple flowers, vines, and leaves. Participants in the workshop will need to bring a .01 or .03 point Pigma pen in the color of their choice. All other materials will be furnished, including handouts and prepared fabric. This is a fun and eye-opening workshop--it leads to all kinds of creativity! The techniques learned can be translated into creative quilt labels, friendship or signature quilts, and beautiful gifts.
FABULOUS FUSED FLOWERS

With a variety of prints, we will cut funky shapes and fuse them into Fabulous Fanciful Flowers. The sample is a table runner using Sue Benner’s techniquefrom the book “Skinny Quilts & Table Runners II.”

This is the perfect place to start ~ a beginner’s class that starts “from the beginning” covering all the basics (selecting fabric, rotary cutting, machine piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting and finishing: binding & sleeves) in an easy to learn format paced for success with step-by-step directions that lead the novice along the way to a finished four block wall hanging over six classes. Sewing machine required from week four.

January 21: Digitizing LogosReview the digitizing process of creating embroidery designs from graphics. Digitize the Version 6 Logo for a notebook cover and CD case to hold your 2012 CDs & printed software lessons.
February 18: Embroider Texture
Digitize designs for needle punching, ribbon work and couching. Create beautiful modern designs applicable to a variety of projects. Automate the Needle Punch process and embellish scarves, pillow bags, journal covers etc.
March 17: Lettering Workshop
Build your lettering skills and explore new techniques. Use True Type fonts to customize your projects. Lettering techniques covered will include a variety of fill effects, outlining, echo, and applique.
April 21: Applique Workshop
Create beautifully embellished applique designs. Coordinate the applique with matching hemstitched trims and borders to complete the project. Create applique from a variety of methods and apply a coordinating quick border with Spanish hemstitching.

Karen will have samples ready and machines set up for participants to try the techniques used in the projects presented each month. A sample will be on display in the shop ahead of time so you will have an idea of what the offerings will be each month.
January 20, 2012: Make It Snappy!
You can stitch up a great little carry all in a snap – and just in time to get organized for the new year! The carry all features four "Snap Happy" pockets to organize your sewing supplies, or you could use it for travel items or even your electronic gadgets. We will also create a wallet that is just right for holding your camera or cell phone. In this class we will learn techniques for embroidering over pet screening to create see-through pockets. We will also review embroidery techniques on netting or tulle.
February 17, 2012: Don't Sweat It
Need a little something to keep you warm? Join us as we create a fun jacket that will do just that. We will discuss sweatshirts and fleece and how to embroider successfully on these fabrics. We will also talk about stabilizers and products that will make your garment or project look great.
March 16, 2012: Simple Home: The Baby Room – and More
In this class we will focus on an adorable ruffled pillow and wall hanging that will be perfect for anyone – not just the new baby. We will discuss gathering techniques as well as discuss how to choose the proper stabilizer for your designs.
April 20, 2012: Holding It Together
Quilting with an Embroidery MachineQuilting has never been easier – we will discuss now to quilt the layers of a quilt together that will make quilting fun and easy and super fast! We will review the basics of quilting in the hoop and create projects using our test samples. We will examine some different threads and needles to use when you use your embroidery machine to quilt your projects.
